For those that care to know I work at Titan Wheel. A major producer of off road wheels for Construction military and farm tractors.

At work I got bumped from my job in the Rim line department, so I did the natural thing and bumped someone else in another department. I transferred to the Wheel assembly Dept. here I run a press that pushes the centers into the rims before they get welded…. I know very exciting… yeah. But hey I get 10 our days and my weekends off.

It’s been quite a time since I posted anything of relevance.
This is mostly because of my son, or me spending a lot of time between work and my son, it is very hectic.

Let me bring you up to date.

Colton is now 10 weeks old, he has had his trials already.
We had to switch him from breast mil to a special formula. After some weeks his fussiness seemed not normal, so we went to a doctor and found out that Colton was allergic to the bovine hormones in Jessie’s breast milk, we switched to a special formula that contains no bovine proteins or hormones.
So far so good, Colton has taken to the new formula, but there was something else that bothered us.
Colton was born 5 weeks early, but health wise everything seemed ok.
When he sleep or ate, he kept make in a noise, something like a wheezing noise but not as pronounced. Last week Jessie took him to a doctor and again we found a new problem, apparently he has some excess membrane over his voicebox that is interfering with his breathing, so next week we are taking him to Iowa City to get an exam.
From what the local doc has said they can scrape or cute the excess membrane away and that should clear it up.
So we shall see.

Nukes from china

A major General in the PLA has made a rather bold statement.
Pretty much it boils down to this, if America interferes with the much expected invasion of Taiwan, by use of military arms, China will respond with nuclear weapons.

On the face of it that is rather scary. Would China use nukes in a firsts strike against the US, over Tiwan?...................... maybe....but.
This appears to be more posturing, Chinese military and government officials have made bold statements like this before.
What this statement is, is a attempt to stir US Intel assets and planners, and see how we react, to this overly bold statement, oh and to play up the bad American line for the home audience.

But there is a problem with this, the Chinese know that if the right political conditions are met such statements could be used to sway the politician here in the US away Freon interference in the a Chinese-Taiwan war.
And i must add, the Chinese do not think like we do on such matter. They could be Serious, and be willing to take a bloody nose from the US, in exchange for the most likely negative reaction from the world body to a US use of nuclear weapons.

Being a father is .....busy

Its been 4 weeks since my son was born, between work, my son and the myriad things i have to do i have had very little time for blogging.

So much has happened in the world in those 4 weeks, too much for me to condense into a post.

So here are some quick hits.

Mother and baby are doing fine, he still wants to stay awake at night but we are slowly wearing him down, or is he wearing us down.... not sure yet....

Our 2 boxers are totally thrilled with this new addition, one or the other sleeps on the floor of the baby room every night. they constantly keep a eye on him and follow everywhere we go with him, they also are very leery when people they don't know hold him.
I see that my son is gonna have 2 big hairy buddies for a good part of his young life.

My wife And I, are doing fine,not getting much sleep, but we are managing to space it out so we can get some work some and take care of our son. staying up to 3-4 AM has gotten normal.
Having a week off from work has helped a quite a bit, but next week will be hell.

The terrorist bombings in England........................., my wife woke me up that morning and told me what happened, all i could mumble was , Fucking savage bastereds...
There is no way that we can find a accommodation or middle ground with these people, as the left and their fellow travelers need to learn that . The fascists,want total control of everything and will not stop till they win or are dead, I prefer dead.

The Supreme Court,Oh boy is this gonna be a dog fight, with O'Connor leaving and Rehnquist appearing to be leaving, G. Bush has a golden opportunity to push the Supreme Court back to a costliest frame of mind instead of the activist liberal frame of mind it has now.
As long as he don't wimp out and try to appease the left and play Mr. nice Guy....

I do have a few new books in the list to read, currently i am reading John Keegan's "World War 1", next in the list is Ben Bova's "Saturn" followed by Harold Coyle's "They are soldiers"
In some of my off time i have been reading the Keegan book, or working in the garage, building new work table, and doing the few Honey-Do jobs around the house, but t is hard to complete a task with 4 week old demanding attention all the time...LOL
Damm hes cute.

Something i just thought about.
My home town La Grange, Missouri, I worked at the local Iron Foundry, in 2002 after a near 100 years in operation the doors were closed. In 2000
My town bought up some land from a local salvage yard, and sold it for a song to company that intended to build a Casino.

Now the salvage yard owner a old black man held out till the city offered him a very nice sum. How ever his neighbors, decided that they could get a lot more if they held out longer. the Casino was built, but some of the nearby lots had, property that, was & is considered by many, including me a eyesore. Till this day 2 owners are still holding out. One is the youngest brother of the salvage yard owner, in front of his trailer he has several cars, trucks busses and other assorted junk piled, He still wont sell, because the casino wont pay him what he wants. The city went and landscaped his side of the road, planting big trees to block the view of his property.
The other person owns a trailer Park where no one lives, there are about 10 or so empty and dilapidated trailers there. no one has lived in them for years, and she wont steel till they match the price she wants, which is nearly 3 times the casino’s plot went for.

Now with this ruling from the SCOTUS, I wonder how long before our city’s councilmen decide to move on them.......

Now to be clear, i have no love for either of the 3 parties involved.. the Casino was running tight slots, till new owners took over, the city gov, is pretty much worthless and untrustworthy, and the landowners are dick heads…

so..... you can see the quandary..

My weekend update

I haven't posted in a while, been to busy.
Well here is a quick run down of my weekend.
SAT.
I took the day off to do some work around the house, I had to finish up some drywall by taping and mudding the cracks and gaps... oh joy what fun.
I finish up around 2PM and just as I get out side a few friends drop by. I have a few cold beers and play with my boxers, Joe and Jake.
After my friends leave i decide to walk over to the city parka nd have a few beers with a friend that is having his birthday party over there.
After a few beers i go home, and my wife comes home at 8pm.
I spend the next few hours cuddling with her and talking. After i put her to bed at 10PM, i head out to another friends garage, which is just over the hill from me.
Well the sill fuckers had a card game going and were drinking it up with some moonshine a buddie made....
Nasty stuff, i stick with beer.
They decide after a while to head out to a local bar,I decline, thankfully the soberest one offered to drive them all......
I head home and hit the sack by 11:30.

Sunday 6 Am
The Wife leaves for work kisses me good bye, I roll over and go back to sleep.
Joe and Jake jump up on the bed and wedge me between them......I continue to sleep.

9:30 AM,
I stagger out of bed and walk into the living room I walk into the kitchen and start me some tea and toast. Head back to the living room turn on the computer...... As i stand there i realize that the blinds are up and the front door is open, and I'm standing there buck naked as the cars drive by....
I turn around and Finnish watching the PC boot up and i got get my tea.
I finish up dishes from yesterday and finish up my first cup of tea.
30 minutes of surfing i decide i need a long hot bath, I start the water and grab the current book I'm reading, Larry Niven's" "Ringworlds Children" After a hour of so i finish up the book and get out.
Another 2 hours of surfing, i Decide to finish up the mudding in the back room.
Well i finish it up and look to my next task Putting up a ceiling fan in the baby's bedroom, that was 1:30PM.
4:30 I'm finally done... what should have been a 30 minute job be came hell....
I Have to build a mount for the fan motor the old light was a recessed light and it was recessed on the back side of the drywall ceiling. After wiring it up i turn it on,,,oh hell the light didn't come on... thought it was a lose wire so i took it back apart and found out the light bulb burned out...
joy to be me.
My sister shows up around that time, we yak for a while she tells me about her tattoo she just got finished up and her plans to go on a trip to Jamaica with some friends.
A old friend shows up with his boy and we yak for a while, after they leave i decide to pull my computer apart and jerry rig a CPU fan on my video car, the vid cards fan died the other day and was seriously getting hot.
I fire up Counterstrike and to my pleasant surprise it works Very well.

I got my dinner out of the frezzer, fresh cut pork chops and taters with onions and Mushrooms...

The mad cap Helen Caldicott has written a polemic against space based weapons which, while it does not mention "missile envy" or "boys playing with toys", is still pregnant with the fallacies of arms control cultists that one would have thought were disproven by how President Reagan won the Cold War. (Hint. It was not by relying on pieces of paper solely.)

The Bush administration is clearly moving toward putting weapons in outer space. It has spent about $500 million a year in research on those potential weapons in the past few years, according to the Center for Defense Information, although often burying it in categories that make hard accounting extremely difficult.
Shocking, a government keeping top secret research programs--well--secret.

In the research phase are antisatellite weapons, space-based antimissile systems, laser beam weapons and bombardment satellites using kinetic impact, directed energy and possibly nuclear explosions. Some of these weapons will be powered by orbiting nuclear reactors.

One wonders where this information came from, since even John Pike has admitted that the Bush Administration has been adroit at keeping stuff that's in the black world out of the pages of AV Leak. Still, I hope this is all true. I want us to have the best high tech weapons imaginable, the better to make enemies think twice about messing with us.

In its document "Visions for 2020," the U.S. Space Command announced the new doctrine of "Full Spectrum Dominance," saying that "the nation which dominates outer space will dominate the Earth." Space, according to the Space Command, is a legitimate and final frontier from which the United States should project its power.

Again, shocking, that a great nation would want to project its power, especially to stop some other nation from dominating space.

Space is already militarized because satellites are used to identify targets on Earth and to accurately direct land-based weapons — tactics that have been used successfully in the Iraq war and in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Intercontinental ballistic missiles enter and exit space in their journey to their land-based targets on other continents. Antiballistic missiles launched to destroy them also would operate in space.
Darn it! Those nasty politicians and Generals did all that when we weren't looking.

If one genie is already out of the bottle for space militarization, another genie can and must be contained by preventing space weaponization. Weapons do not now orbit in outer space. There are powerful reasons why such weapons should be forbidden.
They're not going to pull a fast one on us again, no sir.

First, placing weapons in space inevitably would provoke an arms race there. Such a race eventually would consume hundreds of billions of dollars. It is simply inconceivable that the United States could place weapons in outer space without provoking other nations such as China, Russia, Japan and countries in the European Union to do the same.

We heard this sort of nonsense during the 1980s. Fortunately President Reagan didn't listen and as a result the Soviet Empire is in the dustbin of history. The problem is that countries like China (aggressive, tyrannical, etc) are going to build the weapons they think they need regardless of what others do. Japan is an ally (partly because of fearing China.) Russia's economy is in the tank and therefore it probably cannot afford space weapons for the foreseeable future. The Europeans would have to give up their welfare states to afford space weapons and this they will never do.

Second, most space-based weapons are inefficient in relation to those based on the ground or in the atmosphere. If we want to destroy a missile site or a troop deployment or bomb a nuclear reactor, it is far more effective to do this with a ground-based missile or pilotless aircraft. Space-based weapons are also radically more expensive than land-based weapons or aircraft.

Inefficient? Compared to bombers? I'm not sure why this is so. The authors do not explain. Expensive? Perhaps, though with the revolution beginning in cheap access to space, I'm not sure that will hold true for very long. Indeed, a lot of commercial space launch companies would love contracts for deploying and servicing space based weapons platforms.

Third, the United States is already the dominant military power in the world, spending about $500 billion a year on the defense budget, including money for current wars, with technology that far exceeds any possible rival, including Russia and China. Adding outer space as a new dimension of our military presence is simply not necessary. Such a move adds a new gesture to our military posturing without increasing our security.

This is, of course, the equivalent of the British in--say--1860 deciding that they don't need to spend money on ironclads because the Royal Navy is already the mightiest in the world and will always be so. Technology progresses on and if one doesn't keep pace, one is likely to get into trouble.

Finally, a response to any possible arms race in outer space is already available: a draft international treaty forbidding space weaponization that was proposed by Russia and China in 2002. The United States has been alone among the great powers in refusing to endorse U.N. General Assembly resolutions on outer space and the draft treaty.

Of course. A piece of paper. The problem is that those two countries, especially Russia, have a history of ignoring treaties when it suits their purpose. Treaties for them are tools to constrain democracies, not themselves. I can see lots of "peaceful" space projects (like the Shenzhou) turning out to have a military component.

Other countries are eager for an agreement, just as they are for a nuclear test ban that includes underground testing, an international criminal court, an agreement on global warming as well as treaties on land mines, small arms and chemical and biological weapons.

Of course they are. These would restrain the United States.

In refusing to sign a treaty on space weaponization and these other significant international accords, the United States is virtually alone in thwarting the world in its efforts to achieve disarmament and environmental sanity through multilateral agreements.

Good for us, I say. I'm rather a "peace through superior fire power" type of guy. It tends to work better than scraps of paper.

In 1967, the United States led the world in pursuing the Outer Space Treaty, which forbids the orbiting of weapons of mass destruction — but not non-WMD. Today, we are the ones obstructing the world in its desire to seal off space as a potential area of weaponization.

Aside for the arrogance of presuming to speak "for the world", I think that if the world has the desire to "seal off" space from (American) weapons, it needs to be obstructed.

U.S. policy is driven not by a need to ensure our security but by lobbyists who need to secure contracts for their defense industry corporate employers.

It is beyond time for the United States to agree to sign an international treaty to prevent weapons from being deployed in outer space, a policy that would serve the country and not a select group of corporations.

Oh, those evil merchants of death. It's all a plot. Like the black helicopters.

The issue of space weaponization is a test case for this administration to reach out to other nations and to set the safest and most sensible direction for the nation and, indeed, the world.

THE CPU is overheating and i really don't know why.
so i decided to upgrade, i just went to New-Egg.com and bought me a new Intel 3.0Ghz P4HT new motherboard and 1 gig worth of DDR-RAM just shy of $400.
I didn't what to but the wife was pleasant enough to tell me to go ahead and do it.

All three actors turn in a great preformance in this tale, of love, adventure and growing up.

Sorry for not posting.

Well, i about wrecked my beautiful truck this morning.
The damm right brake caliper locked down on the rotor.
It didn't stop the wheel, but the drag on the roter was pretty bad and i only seemed to have breaking on the left side.....
by the time i pulled into the lot at work the wheel was smoking hot.
I called my loving wife, and told here what tools ill be needing.
She arrives after work and brings the tools....
well after 15 minutes of work i find to my non-surprise the caliper is shot, and need replace ment........... oh joy.
i stopped at the local auto parts store picked up a replacement and headed home, I decided ill do it tomorrow....

He defended the United Nations, despite recent scandals including allegations of corruption in the oil-for-food program for Iraq.
“The criticism is, in my view, a revenge from American political circles for the defeat over Iraq,” Blix was quoted as saying.

If we really wanted to invade a country for oil, it would have been Mexico, we have more than enough reasons to "make a run for the border."

Oh yeah and As much as I'm a proponent of nuclear power, it will not eliminate our need for oil, in fact if we freed up the oil we used for gasoline and diesel, We would probably have another economic boom and still need the crude for the thousands of other products that require crude as a base.

I got a piece of good news today, my cousin who is tight with the local police force informs me that one of the town officers is willing to make me a deal.
If i let him use my property pout in the country to conduct gunhandling and shooting tests for CCW applicants, he will cut me a deal on the cost for me.
Usually the whole ting runs around $100 to $150. My cousin grant said it might be in the area of $50 for me........
HOOOYEAH!

One snag though the officer in question still has to get qualified as a instructor, thought that should not be a problem for him.

Now, I already said DEAL , and all i have to do now is decide what's gonna be my Carry gun.
